Shopify costs 2026: plans, fees and what a store really costs

How much does Shopify really cost? The answer has three parts: the monthly plan, the fees per order and the cost of apps, theme and agency. This guide walks through all of them, with examples for small and large shops.
Shopify costs at a glance
Shopify plan: a monthly fee, from about 20 to more than 350 francs or euros a month depending on the plan.
Payment fees: a percentage plus a fixed amount per order.
Apps: many are free, key apps often cost 10 to 50 a month.
Theme: free or a one-off of about 150 to 400.
Agency: one-off for setup or migration, plus optional ongoing support.

Shopify plans and prices
Shopify has four main plans. Paying yearly saves about 25 percent. The prices below come from the Swiss pricing page (October 2026).
Basic: 29 CHF a month, 21 CHF when paid yearly. For new shops and small ranges.
Grow: 79 CHF a month, 59 CHF yearly. For growing shops with a small team.
Advanced: 359 CHF a month, 269 CHF yearly. For high-revenue shops selling in several markets.
Shopify Plus: from about 2,100 euros a month. For large brands, B2B and multiple stores.
Shopify fees per order
Every payment has a fee. With Shopify Payments you only pay the card rate. With another payment provider, Shopify adds an extra transaction fee.
Card rates with Shopify Payments in Switzerland:
Basic: 2.95 % plus 0.30 CHF
Grow: 2.75 % plus 0.30 CHF
Advanced: 2.55 % plus 0.30 CHF
Plus: 2.3 % plus 0.30 CHF
Extra fee without Shopify Payments: 2 % on Basic, 1 % on Grow, 0.6 % on Advanced and 0.2 % on Plus. That is why Shopify Payments almost always pays off.
Apps and theme
Email marketing such as Klaviyo: free up to about 250 contacts, then priced by list size.
Reviews, legal texts, cookie banner: usually 5 to 30 a month.
Filters, search, translation: often 10 to 50 a month.
A good premium theme costs about 150 to 400 once. A fully custom design is built in a project with an agency.
